We are very happy to announce the launch of the English version of Russian actor Sergey Bezrukov’s official website. We hope this will be a pleasant surprise for fans whose mother tongue is not Russian – it turns out there are quite a few. Welcome!
We would like to thank these people from the United Kingdom: Yelena Karl, Ekaterina Tann for their work translating and Katherine Fiona Scharansky for editing the site into English and Antonina Vorobieva for translating Sergey’s poem.
The English version is being launched while Sergey Bezrukov prepares for his American tour.
This will not be the first time he has performed in the United States. In 2000 Sergey portrayed S. Esenin in the Ermolova Theatre’s play “Life of Mine, Did I Dream You up…?” (a.k.a. “Zhizn moya, il’ ty prisnilas’ mne…?”) in Atlantic City. In 2003 Sergey was on tour with “Temptation” by Aldo Nikolai in Los Angeles and Chicago. In March last year he starred in Art-Piter’s production of “Cyrano de Bergerac” in New York. This year the actor will travel to several places in the USA. New Yorkers can see him portray two poets in two plays: on the 2th of April on the Whitman Hall stage he will play “Cyrano de Bergerac”. On the 3rd of April he will read and sing Esenin’s works in “The Hooligan”. Later Sergey would take his Cyrano to Chicago (the 6th of April), Boston (the 8th of April) and Philadelphia (the 10th of April).
In June 2011 Sergey Bezrukov Theatre will come to London. The play “Passion According to Emelyan” will be performed at The Logan Hall on the 11th and 12th of June. In the late 1990s Sergey toured the United Kingdom with Tabakov’s Theatre (he played 2 characters in the production of “Anecdotes”). In 1998 scenes from his film “In My Place” (a.k.a. “Vmesto Menya”) were shot on the Isle of Wight.
